thanks for the answer. I did as you suggested but found I also had to do the following:-

Go to windows vista control panel,security centre, windows firewall, allow programs through. This brings up Windows firewall settings,exceptions, add program. This shows a list of programs, click on "Lexmark all in One Centre" and click OK. Make sure this is enabled in exceptions list.
